Your Leather Type - Guide

Standard Furniture Leather / Auto Leather
(Known as: Pigmented or Corrected Leather)

FULLY REPAIRABLE

This leather is plain in colour with a smooth or dimpled skin surface.
This is the simplest type of leather to repair because of its plain colour.
Most of the damage that occurs on this type of leather is usually superficial to the coloured coating which then exposes the leather. You will find this type of leather in car leather interiors and most high street store furniture.

Chesterfield / Or Modern Two-tone Leather

FULLY REPAIRABLE BUT REQUIRES MORE SKILL - Application of 2 colours may be necessary.
Please notify us if you are repairing a two tone leather.  If in doubt, call in the professionals.

CHESTERFIELD - The colour on this leather surface is created by applying 2 colours which imitates a unique 'worn' appearance on traditional chesterfield type leather. Colour loss over larger areas will require the Pro-Colour Restoration Kit.

TWO TONE - On more modern leather suites this gives a slight mottled or darker printed effect over the whole surface. The colours on these types of leathers tend to wear off leaving a lighter brighter colour on the surface. Colour loss over larger areas will require the services of a professional.

Semi-Aniline Leather

CAN BE REPAIRED IF THE PRODUCTS ARE USED SPARINGLY

A supple soft natural leather which is dyed through and sealed with a protective coloured sealant. This type of leather will have a natural smooth surface. Scars occur naturally in this type of leather. The surface may absorb liquid spills after a few moments, leaving a darker area. This type of leather also fades in sunlight.

Pull Up Aniline Leather

THE COLOUR CAN BE RESTORED - REPAIR KITS CANNOT BE USED ON THIS LEATHER

This is pure natural leather which is dyed only, and will be waxed or oiled. The surface of this leather may have a natural scratchy appearance & will fade & dry out very quickly if not maintained. This leather is very absorbent and will absorb liquids, stains & dirt very quickly leaving a darker mark on the surface.
This leather must be stainguarded on a regular basis, if not, stains may remain permanent. Colour restoration will improve the general appearance immensely. We recommend the Buffalo Aniline Dye, Dye kit, or the Colour restoration Balm.

Bi-Cast Leather

NOT REPAIRABLE DUE TO ITS GLOSSY SURFACE

This type of leather furniture has a smooth surface with a high gloss finish, and is not supple to the touch.
